Visitors to the Commonwealth Games in the capital later this year will be able to stay in luxurious tents modelled on those put up during the Pushkar fair at two areas in the National Capital Region. Two places in the NCR -- Surajkund in Faridabad and Dondahera near the National Highway-8 -- have got the approval of the Tourism Ministry for setting up luxury tents for visitors to the Games.
"We have sanctioned about Rs eight crore as part of the tented accommodation project to Haryana government for developing basic facilities in Dondahera and Surajkund," said a senior Tourism Ministry official. Earlier, the ministry was planning to have tented accommodation at the Parade Ground in Delhi Cantonment and the Territorial Army Area in Chattarpur. However, permission was not granted by the Defence Ministry, so other options were explored, the official said.
